National Engineering Industries Ltd. (NEI), Jaipur was founded by the renowned industrialist, late Mr B.M. Birla in the year 1946 as a pioneer industry in the field of bearing manufacture, under the name of "National Bearing Company Limited."

The first bearing was manufactured in 1950 with a modest start of 30,000 bearings in 19 sizes. The company is now manufacturing nearly 3.8 million bearings per month in over 500 different sizes ranging from 6 mm bore to 1300-mm outer diameter and is one of the few companies in the world to manufacture bearings upto 2000-mm outer diameter.

At NEI, the development of bearings is a never-ending job. With ever increasing activities and grant of industrial licenses for other vital industries and manufacturing of Roller Bearing Axle Boxes for Railway Rolling Stock, Steel Balls, Tapered Roller Bearings, Spindle Inserts etc., the name of the company was changed in 1958 to "National Engineering Industries Limited.", while retaining its original trade mark NBC.

Its collaborators include NTN of Japan and BRENCO Inc. of USA. Company's current turnover is over Rs 4350 million (approx. USD 97 Million).

NBC bearings are widely used by 2 and 3 Wheelers, Cars, Trucks, Tractors, Electric Motors, Railway Wagon, Coach & Locomotive manufacturers as Original Equipment, and Steel Mills, Heavy and Engineering Plants, Bulldozers, Shovels, Tillers and Thermal Power Plants all over the country.

Hindustan Motors Limited (HML) is India's pioneering automobile manufacturing company of the C.K. Birla Group. It was established by Mr. B.M. Birla in 1942.

HML over the years has equipped itself with state-of-the-art facilities for the production of Passenger Cars, Trucks and multi-utility Vechicles.

Besides passenger cars (Ambassador, Grand and Avigo), Multi Utility Vehicles (Trekker, Porter, and Pushpak) and the RTV, Hindustan Motors also manufactures passenger cars in the mid-size premium segment (Mitsubishi Lancer, Lancer Select and Lancer Cedia) and has brought in Sports Utility Vehicle (Mitsubishi Pajero) into the Indian market in collaboration with Mitsubishi Motors, Japan.

HM's current turnover is approximately USD 170 million. HM has also been JV partner of General Motors in India, when the plant was setup to produce the car model "OPEL".

BM Birla Science and Technology Centre is a constituent unit of Birla Institute of Scientific Research (BISR) that owes its existence to the dreams and aspirations of renowned industrialist and visionary, Mr. B.M. Birla.

It is a testament of the endeavors of the Birla family to promote science, art and culture. Mrs. and Mr. Ganga Prasad Birla and Mrs. and Mr. C.K Birla are further pursuing these worthy traditions.

B M Birla Science and Technology Centre at Jaipur, the constituent unit of BISR, has multifunctional objectives. It undertakes goal-oriented applied research in the frontier areas of science and technology viz., Bio-Chemicals, Bio-Technology, Environmental Sciences, etc., as well as effectively markets R & D knowledge base.

Pan African Paper Mills (EA) Ltd., Kenya, with an annual production capacity of 127,000 tons, is one of the largest integrated pulp and paper mills in Africa. It has been promoted by Orient Paper and Industries Ltd. with participation from the Govt. of Kenya and International Finance Corp. The company produces a vide range of industrial and cultural papers, meeting about 80% of the demand of paper and boards in Kenya.
